One morning Cassie and her brothers spied two white men talking about cutting down their trees.

Cassie, her four brothers, mom, and grandma live on her grandma's property.  Their dad was in another state making money for the family.

The children ran back to the house but when they got there Mr.          was there and talking to their grandma.  Finally she gave them permission to chop the trees.  That night the oldest brother was sent to get their dad so he could stop them.

A couple days later their dad came and scared the workers away by putting dynamite in the forest and threatening to blow it up even with himself in it!  The men got scared and went away.  They were very happy.

I sort of didn't like this book because it wasn't exciting.  My favorite part was in the beginning because all the trees were still there and Cassie was happy.  If I had to be someone I'd want to be Cassie because she sounds nice.  I've played tag a lot just like Cassie and her brothers did when they heard the men talking about their trees.  I think anyone who likes trees or history would like this book.  At the end of the book I felt sad because some of the trees were gone, but than they could get money from the lumber.  I would be really sad if someone cut down my trees.
