In America there is American Sign Language, regular sign language, and Indian Sign Language. The difference between ASL and Sign Language is that in Sign Language you sign each word as the sentence is written. In American Sign Language you sign only the important words. For example, in Sign Language you would say, "My favorite fruit are apples. " In ASL you would sign, "favorite fruit apples." Indians used Sign Language to talk to other tribes because each tribe had a different speaking language. Today we use Sign Language to talk to the deaf. It is interesting to see how some words are the same and some are different. Here are some examples:
